1. The Origin of the Name “House of Hebron”
The name “House of Hebron” comes from a uniquely significant biblical city, Hebron. In Joshua 21:13, Scripture records: “The Israelites gave Hebron (a city of refuge for one accused of murder) and its surrounding pasturelands to the descendants of Aaron the priest.”
Hebron was one of the Cities of Refuge, overseen by priests. It was established as a sanctuary for those who had accidentally caused harm and had not yet been judged. In Hebron, people were not immediately condemned, but instead protected, covered, and given space to wait for both justice and mercy.
In the New Testament, we understand that Jesus Christ Himself is our true City of Refuge.
In Christ, sins are forgiven.
In Christ, there is no condemnation.
In Christ, lives can be healed, restored, and commissioned anew.
Therefore, “House of Hebron” is not merely a religious label. It represents a spiritual refuge, a place of restoration, and a launching point for new beginnings.
2. The Spiritual Birth of the Name
In January 2021, through prayer and seeking God’s heart, the Lord clearly revealed the vision of Hebron as a City of Refuge. During that season, Pastor Dorcas Zhang continuously shared the vision God had placed in her spirit. At the same time, the Holy Spirit led Sister Nina Lai to receive this revelation together, and she was moved to put the vision and mission into written form.
During this period, the Holy Spirit specifically highlighted Joshua 21:13, making it clear that Hebron existed both for those who had unintentionally caused harm and for those who had been wounded. The administration and spiritual oversight of this city were entrusted to the Levites. In a world often filled with religious legalism, labels, and condemnation, God desires to establish a home, a place where people can be embraced, healed, and led back to Jesus. For this reason, the ministry was named “House of Hebron,” not as an institution, but as a home.
3. Core Values of House of Hebron
Jesus Christ Is the Only Center
Not systems, not individuals, not ministry size, but Jesus alone.
Healing Comes Before Commissioning
We do not run while broken. We stand in healing, and we are sent in freedom.
Grace Triumphs Over Condemnation
We believe God restores people, not discards them.
Authenticity Over Religious Performance
We make room for weakness, tears, healing, and the process of growth.
This is not a cold institution, but a spiritual family that watches over, covers, and supports one another.
4. God’s Commission to House of Hebron in This Generation
In an age marked by trauma, anxiety, identity confusion, and broken relationships, God has entrusted House of Hebron with a clear and sacred mandate: To become a spiritual City of Refuge for this generation
Here, we commit to:
-
Receiving those who have been misunderstood or wounded within the church.
-
Healing those who have failed, fallen, or been labeled
-
Bringing people fully and completely to Jesus
-
Removing the veil so that people may enter the Holy of Holies and encounter God face to face
The life of Pastor Zhang Duojia stands as a living testimony of this calling.
From depression, anxiety, failure, and brokenness, he has been personally healed, delivered, restored, and called by God. On July 23, 2020, at 2:03 a.m., God spoke clearly through Isaiah 6:8:
“Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
His response to this divine call has become the foundational mandate that continues to guide House of Hebron today.
Conclusion
House of Hebron is not a gathering place for perfect people.
It is a home for those restored by grace and sent out in glory.
Welcome home. Welcome to your true identity and destiny in God.
